ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Data comes to life at The Ranch with hands-on training sessions with The Ranch’s resident animals! Susan will guide participants through using formative data-collection to 1) more clearly assess training success; 2) change tack more sensitively in response to the learner’s needs; and 3) leverage the ultimate tool of accountability, which is so important to meeting welfare goals. In several data-focused lectures, Ken will share practical examples of using data from various consults.

Susan G. Friedman, Ph.D. and Ken Ramirez will combine their expert training, teaching, and presentation skills to provide an immersive, hands-on Guest at The Ranch two-day workshop this August.

Participants will be split into working teams so that each person has the opportunity to train a Ranch animal while fellow students collect data.

With Ken’s coaching and Susan’s skillful guidance, you’ll collect data during those training sessions and learn how to use that data to adapt and improve the next training session.

All participants will experience the ins and outs of the full data-based decision-making process with lectures, case studies, and modeling and supervised practice with Ranch animals.
